Effective today, we are explicitly stating our policy on profanity. This will include the common 4 letter cuss words we all know and love to use when we are pissed and vulgar. This also includes swearing of the following words which will be edited by the admins to appear like following (not script to leave it to judgement of admin): G#d d#@m, f@ck, etc. You get the point. I'm sure we can all express our thoughts with other words that are more... intelligent? :-)
This is what I initially have as guidelines that I wrote when I first created the forum earlier this year:
ok guys, I need to address a few things since a few problems have come up.
First of all, I want to state that I created this forum a couple of weeks ago so that it's separate forum that is better than S&T. Why do I think it can be better? Because I can control it, and so can you. I pledge to you that I will take in your input and the general good of the forum is our goal.
Let me first state the rules:
1. IMPERSONATION will not be allowed. Consider this your warning. Impersonators will be banned. IPs are shown when Admins are logged on so I can spot a faker right away.
2. HARASSMENT will not be tolerated, sexual, racial, any harassment. This is pretty obvious. But it also involves constant pressuring for games or whatever and public banter and name-calling. There is a good clean challenge and there's egging on and annoyance. Use your judgement.
3. SPAMMING is not allowed and you all know what this is about. Helpful information, posting links, etc. is welcome. Please do state your websites so we can all check it out.
4. IF SOMEONE IS UNHAPPY WITH SOMEONE ELSE IN THE FORUM, please work it out amongst yourself. I will try to stay away from it as much as possible, and banning is the last resort. Victory and Necroscope, let's chill it out. Necroscope has stepped forward and maturely said he'll put this behind him. Please do so also, Victory.
5. USE COMMON SENSE. We all know what we want from a good forum. If you have ideas, request, let me know. Believe it or not, I have plenty of time moderating this forum. You can say I have no life..hehe.
In the future, I will need moderators if it grows big enough so your current actions will be like your resume in case you feel like you want this responsibility.
I will also add strategy and tactics section that are written by contributors. If you have a well written tactic, I will post it in it's own section. If you have an interesting paper about a topic outside of StarCraft, I'll post that also if you want. Of course it all depends on space and time.
The forum is very interesting now and this is a unique opportunity for all of you originals to mold it into a forum we all want. I will listen and definitely won't be like GFraizer or Blizzard who really don't have time.
Why do I want to do this? Because it's fun for me and I like this place as an idea for free exchange.
Remember, most people here are very interested in things outside of StarCraft, so just by that, it's not a typical S&T forum. We have nurses here, chemists, soldiers, software engineers, etc. and as you can see, many questions are answered.
Thank you for your time and please do post comments. Remember, you can always email me.

I also like Shockwave's rules just like he has in his forum. Please take a look as it is a good summary of what I believe in also:
- Do not use vulgarity in your posts. This forum is open to people of all ages; and although it is true that swearing is now culturally becoming more a part of our society, I personally do not condone it and would request that you refrain from it. This includes things like swear words and excessively sexual language, as well as sexually explicit images.
- Do not engage in racist or stereotypical attacks. If you have specific grievances against something associated with a particular ethnicity or creed, you are welcome to air your concerns and we can discuss it on this forum. However, do not resort to empty flaming, and always be considerate of other posters' backgrounds when tackling subjects that may bear sensitivity toward members of our community.
- Do not engage in flames, personal attacks, or harassment. If you have a grievance against another poster, please settle it privately over email, or choose another forum where you can air your opinions. I will not tolerate disrespect and will remove any posts I see that are clearly personal attacks. Note that there is a line between criticism and flaming, and I will not censor the former. If you have something legitimate to say about another person that cannot be handled privately for whatever reason, then post it at your discretion.
- Do not post spam. This is a more subjective restriction, but -- as there is no posting guideline -- please be mindful of the quality and frequency of your posts. I will obviously not tolerate someone who posts 100 duplicate messages on the forum, nor will I tolerate messages that are in my judgment meaningless and intended to clutter the forum.
- Do not embed HTML in your post subject lines, whether color or sizing or images or what not. The idea is to keep the thread section fairly uniform. If you'd like to highlight something, let me know and I'll allow it within reason.
- Do not post here merely to advertise other forums or sites. If you'd like publicity about your site, the best way is to contact me and I will, on my discretion, add the site to the list of recommended links on the forum. I mostly would like to discourage people from posting empty messages repeatedly just to advertise their site. I do not otherwise mind if people add a link to their site in their posts. Granted, this is a rare occurrence, but I mention this rule in case this ever becomes an issue.
- Do not post chain letters or advocate pyramid schemes. Many web-based pyramid schemes forbid their users to advertise solictations, and those organizations will be notified in the event of any infringment on this forum.
Thank you for your cooperation. Again, there are many communities out therewith a variety of philosophies toward censorship and forum maintenance. Because of my personal convictions coupled with what I think is healthy for the forum in the long run, I have established the above guidelines. It is my hope that you will do your best to follow them out of respect for me, this forum, and this community.
Regards,
Shockwave
